Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center
The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is located on the southwest side of Austin, Texas and is a part of the University of Texas at Austin. It has 284 acres of scenic gardens and trails. It requires an admissions fee and during some busy seasons, reservations. Prices vary by season.
The Center exists to “inspire the conservation of native plants through its internationally recognized sustainable gardens, education, and outreach programs, and research projects.” The website is a wonderful resource for determining which native plants work best in your home gardens.
You are sure to see a number of butterfly species every time you visit, plus a number of other species including insects, lizards, and birds.
at some point, I’m able to find common ground for appreciation while risking unspoken, superfluous praise…placing an ongoing thankfulness for your sensitivity to the beauty and significance of nature. The moment isn’t confined to recognition but to connectedness with one’s spirit… We became people of the land and what can be made of it…in our creation in a garden environment… and turned our attention to reducing it to an ancillary division between attending to it and moving it to less than our own drive for significance… Having spent time working at KLBJ-FM, Lady Bird’s station, and serving Lady Bird and her husband for 2-3 days, just weeks before the finality of his calling home, transforming her devotion to defining beauty as restoration of clutter to maturing and nourishing the land and those on it. She was always able to express her inspiration in an intent to protect what was given and what was needed to come to authentic acceptance of nature’s place in our sustainability and meaning…
You have touched that place by interpreting a notice of the smaller, of our more distinct connections with The Garden.
